What are we searching? |
|
Our search
form enables you to search this Overtake®
website for specific words or combinations
of words contained in a text index of the
words in all the pages of this website. It
will not locate approximately 300 of the
most common English words, such as
"a," "the," and so on.
A brief explanation of the query language is
given below, along with examples and our search tips. |
|
When you
submit a search, our search engine checks
that text index and displays a weighted
list of the number of hyperlinks to pages
that contain text that matches your search
text, with better matches shown first. To
calculate relevance, the more hyperlinks
to a page in this website that contains
the word or phrase you searched for the
higher the score (weight) that page gets.
|
|
The text
search engine allows queries to be formed
from arbitrary Boolean expressions
containing the keywords AND, OR, and NOT,
and grouped with parentheses. For example:
- employee productivity
- finds documents containing
'employee' or 'productivity'
- employee or
productivity
- same as above.
- employee and
productivity
- finds documents containing both
'employee' and 'productivity'
The operator AND narrows the retrieval
results
- employee not
productivity
- finds documents containing
'employee' but not 'productivity'
- (employee not
productivity) and cost
- finds documents containing
'employee', plus 'cost' but not
'productivity'
ANDing together terms reduces
retrieval size
Note:Any manager who considers
employee costs without considering
employee productivity and, far more
importantly, unit costs is incompetent.
- web*
- finds documents containing words
starting with 'web'
This is truncation which retrieves a
term's variants

Search
Tip 1: If you are getting too many
results, combine multiple search terms
with the operator AND between them.
Search Tip 2: If you are achieving
zero results, use multiple search terms,
the operator OR and truncation (which will
retrieve a term's variants).
Search Tip 3: If you want to learn
more about searching the world wide web
use the external links shown in the right
navigation bar above.
Search Tip 4: If this Overtake.com
website does not contain the information
you need, use the web search engines

web for website addresses that contain one
or more of the terms or keywords you
specify in your search query.
